Darkinjung Country
Woy Woy Bay is a gorgeous community in ‘The Bays’ of the Central Coast & enjoys a heritage of modest fibro cottages & fishing shacks. Although the house is not modest in scale, the plan was deliberately broken down into attached pavilions with distinguishable individual roofs to better blend into the fabric of its surrounds. Sited on a beautiful but steep & narrow, north-facing block that looks across the Bay to National Park, the key to resolving the living spaces was to use pop-up lantern roofs over each pavilion. These act like sun & wind-catchers to scoop light & breeze deep into the interior. The house has been planned to allow the Clients to age gracefully in place despite the gradient of the land.
