WOY WOY BAY RESIDENCE

Although this modest renovation is effectively just a face-lift, the impact on the original brick-veneer, neo-Georgian home is by no-means modest. Blessed with a magnificent northern aspect on the water’s edge, looking across beautiful Woy Woy Bay into bushland, the home had everything going for it but the home. The impact is all the more impressive given that the works were deemed ‘exempt development’ and avoided the need for any development or building approval. Aluminum screens have been employed to create a veil around the upper level of the home,&together with new roof & wall cladding, disguise the outdated envelope beneath. Careful attention was given to frame views through the screens by use of deep aluminum plate reveals. The project is an exercise in judicious use of materials to achieve maximum impact.
