Awabakal Country
This renovation of a mid-century modern home in one of Newcastle’s beach-side suburbs, strips out more area than it adds to the footprint. Alterations over the years have seen the internal courtyard filled in & surrounding rooms suffer for it. Reinstatement of the courtyard has been the key to restoring the original integrity of the Architect-designed plan, returning light, ventilation & outlook to much of the home. Addition of a missing front entry porch, has connected the home to the street & formed a breezeway through the house that also draws guests through, past the internal courtyard to the view at the rear. Linings, insulation & glazing have been upgraded to comply with building codes & bring the home well into its next century.
Client Testimonial:
‘Angus is a gentle, gracious man who listened to our brief and inspired with his own contributions. We needed a few meetings to reach this equilibrium, but have a light filled, energy efficient, MCM design with great airflow. It sits beautifully on the block and was an extensive renovation. His thorough documentation was appreciated for quotes and the building process. We are so happy to have collaborated with Angus and highly recommend him and his team.’
