This holiday accommodation in beautiful Julatten, is situated inland from Port Douglas in tropical north Queensland, where the rainforest meets the eucalypts.  These exclusive retreats are a tribute to the 'bush carpentry' so prominent in rural Queensland where nothing is straight & ingenuity & pragmatism is evident everywhere.  The juxtaposition of 5-star luxury with seemingly haphazard forms & raw, natural materials is quite striking.

With a laconic Joiner for a client who has a passion for exotic timbers, & who works out of his own rickety shed, the result was always going to be something special.  At an elevation of 400 metres above sea level, guests can escape the humidity of the coast nearby whilst being surrounded by the stunning & unique scenery of the Daintree National Park, & even enjoy an open fire at night.

"We would have no hesitation in recommending True North Architects. They provided an excellent service and delivered their services both professionally and on time. The buildings designed for us are for commercial use and we often receive extremely positive feedback from our guests regarding the design outcome of the buildings with the design perfectly meeting our brief" - Glenn & Wendy Cambage
