Bentley Residence

This lightweight, floodprone beach house backs onto Lake Munmorah at Budgewoi on the NSW Central Coast.  The timber screens along the side elevation use hardwood timber-mill off-cuts creating an 'interference' effect as the viewer moves past.  The design lifts the entire house out of the flood plain with only its feet getting wet.  Conceived as a jetty, even the lower non-habitable spaces are suspended on wharf timbers & create large areas of low maintenance outdoor recreation space for holiday makers.  The use of corrugated iron wall cladding plays with textures by panels alternating the orientation of the corrugations.

Angus turned our vision for the property into a reality.  He was able to convert the things which were in our heads into a concrete design which preserved our concepts and aspirations and was also achievable - Bruce & Lesley Bentley
